Lasso Safe founders, Pamela Minix and Luis Hernandez know how important it is for athletes to feel safe and supported. ​

​Pam, a former athlete and biomechanics specialist, and Luis, a professional figure skater, questioned the influence of sports cultures on athlete well-being and safe sports cultures’ definition worldwide. Luis was diagnosed with career-ending trauma, but he used the lessons learned by our research to recover and went on to win six national championships.​

Pam, Luis, and their team’s 2014-2019 State of the Industry report revealed safe sports cultures not only benefited athletes with longer and more consistent careers but also led to significantly higher net revenues and economic impact for organizations and communities. ​

Their research inspired the creation of the Sports Wellness Platform, utilizing athlete experience data to improve athlete well-being and inform organization development. Industry statistics show loss of profit associated with high dropout rates and abuse, and low reporting and accountability.​
